Former Arsenal boss Unai Emery has taken a swipe at the Gunners’ bitter rivals, Tottenham.
Emery endured a brief spell in charge of Arsenal, managing the club for just over a year, during which time he was able to take them to the Europa League final before losing out to Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea.
After his dismissal at Arsenal, Emery took charge of Villareal in 2020 and led them to Europa League glory last year.
Now, in a recent interview with The Athletic, Emery was quizzed about having four former Tottenham players on his books.
And though it was done in a subtle way, Emery did appear to respond to this question by aiming a dig at Tottenham for their inability to win trophies:
“Tottenham is also a very big club, but here they (those players) could win things,” he says.

Villarreal vs Bayern Munich
Whilst Emery and co. had success in Europe last year, they are unlikely to have any in 2022.
This is because Villarreal are still in the Champions League and have drawn Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.
And whilst Bayern experienced a blip during the first leg of their Round of 16 tie vs Salzburg, the German powerhouse still remain clear favourites against the Yellow Submarine.
