Fans take aim at Cristiano Ronaldo following Portugal vs Spain

Manchester United and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has come in for heavy criticism during a UEFA Nations League clash with Spain on Tuesday.

Portugal are currently locked in UEFA Nations League action with Spain at the Estádio Municipal de Braga.

Portugal headed into the match top of their Nations League group by two points. So they only needed a draw vs Spain to make it into the knockout stages.

However, a late goal from Alvaro Morata meant Spain went top of their group and progressed to the next round instead of Portugal.

The game was fairly balanced, with Spain unsurprisingly having the majority of possession, but the two sides were split when it came to shooting chances.

During the match, though, Cristiano Ronaldo came in for heavy criticism online. The 37-year-old put on a poor showing vs the Czech Republic last week and there were calls for him to be dropped vs Spain.

However, he was in from the off alongside Diogo Jota and Bernardo Silva. And whilst it was not Ronaldo’s worst game, he is still being labeled as ‘finished’ by many fans online:
