The latest performance put forth by Arsenal star Fabio Vieira on Thursday night has since given rise to widespread comparisons to a one-time club icon.
Mikel Arteta’s troops, of course, were back in action a short time ago.
After returning to action on the back of the international break with a bang, courtesy of a 3-1 downing of Tottenham in the North London Derby at the weekend, the Gunners turned their attentions towards the continent, in a Europa League meeting with Norwegian outfit Bodø/Glimt.
And, when all was said and done, Arsenal, once more, impressed.
The capital giants opened the scoring midway through the first-half, when Eddie Nketiah slotted home on the rebound, after Kieran Tierney’s thunderous strike cannoned off the post:
And, from here, it proved the Fabio Vieira show.
En route to an eventual 3-0 result at the Emirates, the summer arrival in north London teed up a Rob Holding header courtesy of a sumptuous delivery from the right, before getting himself on the scoresheet late on, owing to some fine work on the part of Gabriel Jesus:
On the back of the action being brought to a close in the English capital, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of Vieira being singled out for widespread praise.
Not only that, but, amid the love-in across social media, the Portuguese midfielder has drawn comparisons to another left-footed creator to have lit up the Emirates for a number of years in the not-so-distant past.
