‘Excuse of a footballer’: Manchester United fans not happy with one player during Southampton clash

Saturday’s early kick-off saw Manchester United taken on Southampton.

Manchester United headed into the game looking to build on their new-found form following an impressive win over Liverpool on Monday.

Despite signing Casemiro earlier in the week, Erik ten Hag stuck with the same eleven that started vs Liverpool in gameweek three.

Manchester United began the game well, though, and should have really scored early on:

However, as the tie wore on, Southampton grew into the match and began to cause United some issues.

And, barring the above chances, Manchester United were struggling to really penetrate Southampton’s backline.

Following what was a fairly average first-half, some Manchester United fans moved to single out one player for criticism on Saturday.

That man was Anthony Elanga, who kept his place in the eleven despite being taken off at half-time vs Liverpool.
