Exclusive Insight: Dortmund youngster Youssoufa Moukoko could make Bundesliga history this weekend & 101 has insight on the youngster

Moukoko: the next star

Borussia Dortmund youngster Youssoufa Moukoko could set a new Bundesliga record this weekend. The Cameroon-born forward turns 16 on Friday, meaning he would be eligible to play for the Dortmund senior side set to face Hertha Berlin on Saturday evening.

This would set a new record, as Moukoko would become the league's youngest ever player. The scary part, though, is that this would not come as a simple novelty. Moukoko has ripped apart the German youth leagues. For Dortmund's under-19 side, the German youth international has netted 44 goals in 23 matches.

Speaking earlier this year, Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc was calm on the youngster's ever-growing reputation:

“We're not going to rush things now and first watch how he feels during the preparation. He finally played his last game in March, the U19 Bundesliga was cancelled after the Corona outbreak," said Zorc. "The plan is of course that he now stays on board with us permanently. "

Despite the calming words of the club's director, there have nevertheless been hints that Moukoko could well make his first-team bow very soon.

Speaking to BVBTV, the striker explained"At my first training session I thought, 'wow, where have I ended up? But I don't listen to what other people say. I follow my own path. I just want to help the team. That's why I'm here."

Exclusive insight

"In a footballing world that boasts amazing young talent, there is perhaps no player more highly anticipated to arrive on the scene than Youssoufa Moukoko.

"A German youth international, the native of Yaoundé has annihilated the domestic youth scene to the tune of 141 goals in 88 youth appearances at all levels. And that number continues to grow, after banging-in ten goals in three league appearances for Borussia Dortmund’s U19’s this season. But his age may only be a simple formality that is about to end."

"For base-value, Moukoko is a modern frontman; versatile in deployment (through the middle, or out wide), boasting bags of pace, with a high degree of technical proficiency that far outstrips his contemporaries at youth level in Germany."

"In addition, though blessed with a cultured left-foot, he is very much a two-footed player, which allows him to tap into his technical craft to fashion a chance for himself regardless of where he is on the pitch. But most importantly, though gifted indeed, he has been credited with being a work horse for the team both in and out of possession."

"Technical craft beyond his years, intelligence, graft, and a scintillating eye for goal. He is very much the most complete player in Europe not logging first-team minutes. That will likely soon change."

Dortmund will take on Hertha Berlin in the German capital at 19:30 this Saturday.
