Manchester City star Erling Haaland has, on Saturday night, etched his name indellibly into the history books of football.
Haaland, and City, were of course back in action a short time ago.
In the final outing of what has proven a remarkable campaign, the Sky Blues made the trip to Istanbul, in the knowledge that a Champions League showpiece downing of Italian giants Inter Milan would see them complete a historic treble.
And, when all was said and done, march on to history is precisely what Pep Guardiola’s troops managed.
A solitary goal ultimately proved the difference come the full-time whistle at the Ataturk Stadium, netted in fine fashion by Rodri midway through the 2nd-half:

City’s first-ever treble, in turn, was made official.
First, as revealed by Squawka, the Norwegian has matched Cristiano Ronaldo as one of only two players in English football history to win both the top-flight league title and European Cup, whilst finishing as top scorer in both competitions, AND being named FWA Football of the Year, all in the same season.

Not only that, but Man City’s goal machine has also matched Lionel Messi as only the 2nd player to win the Champions League Golden Boot in two separate seasons before reaching the age of 23.
