Erik ten Hag sets out 5 Manchester United 'non negotiables' in club rebuild

Erik ten Hag has warned his new Manchester United players that he will be a strict taskmaster as he lays out five non-negotiable rules for his squad.

Ten Hag became the new manager at Old Trafford at the end of the season following a disappointing sixth-placed finish for the Red Devils in 2021/22, a campaign that had initially harboured hopes of ending in a first Premier League title in a decade.

And, since arriving, he has already begun licking his new charges into shape with intense training drills as he strives for pre-season perfection.

And now, the Dutchman has begun implementing new rules at Carrington for the players to adhere to.

Ten Hag's new rules

Ten Hag's latest regulations target diet, promptness and leaks as he looks to overhaul the toxic culture that has seeped into Manchester United since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure.

As per The Express, he is keen to ensure that leaks do not continue to emerge from the club, ruling that any player found guilty of as much will not play for either him or Manchester United ever again.

Ten Hag is also focusing on tardiness, claiming that anyone who arrives for training, team meetings or matches late will be dropped, no matter how important they may be to his side.

Then, to tackle the physical wellbeing of his players, the Dutchman has decreed that alcohol should not be drunk during match weeks, effectively a full-time ban given the twice-a-week nature of the Red Devils' schedule.

He would also like to ensure that the club diet changes, with more fish and vegetables on the menu, while finally he is set to order monthly BMI check ups for every player to make sure that they remain in top shape throughout the season.

However, Ten Hag is keen to remain available for his players around the clock, operating an open door policy so that his stars can come to him with their problems, rather than leaking them to the media.
