Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has, on Friday, provided an update on the wellbeing of sidelined youngster Kobbie Mainoo.
For those who may have missed it, youngster Mainoo was dealt a major blow late last month.
This came upon word coming to the fore that the 18-year-old was facing up to a lengthy spell on the treatment table.
After seeing his name quickly gain recognition across the United fanbase owing to back-to-back pre-season starts, Mainoo was forced to limp out of a meeting with Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Ensuing medical tests revealed an ankle issue, with an official statement on the matter having confirmed that the midfield prodigy had therefore been ‘ruled out for the first part of the 2023/24 season’.

Such news could not have come at a worse time for Mainoo, with calls, at the time, having been mounting for his inclusion in Erik ten Hag’s first-team plans for the season ahead.
Speaking to the media on Friday, the Red Devils’ head coach was, in turn, drawn on the latest on Mainoo’s fitness.
And not only did Ten Hag go on to provide an insight into the England youth international’s return timeline, but he also hinted that Mainoo will be afforded the chance to impress as part of his squad in the near future:
“At this moment, he’s not available but I think he will also, in say one, two months. Not in one month, but in two months, he will be available. And so, for the winter [that] is coming up, he absolutely will have his games.”
