After signing on a free transfer, it was assumed that Eriksen would take up something of a squad role for the Red Devils.
However, in part due to Manchester United not signing Frenkie de Jong, Eriksen has started every game of the campaign so far.
Eriksen was especially impressive on Sunday as Manchester United beat Arsenal 3-1. The former Tottenham man got the assist for the third goal and his passing ability was also key to the previous two goals from United.
After the game, Erik ten Hag has been discussing Eriksen’s role in his United team:
“Bruno Fernandes gets support [from Christian], he can also pass the final ball, receive the final ball, the togetherness they really suit together,” said the United boss.
“We put him a little more down on the pitch, like a six, eight role, he has a lot of freedom, he has to interchange with the spaces where he has to be and the rest have to adapt to that,” said Ten Hag.
“He can make a game for you, make the switch of play, he sees a pass between the lines, make the final pass and go into attack to score a goal. He can improve his defence, when he plays like today one small mistake, we’ll give him that, he played a magnificent game.”
