Erik ten Hag confirms Man United’s January transfer plans

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has, late on Saturday, provided an insight into the club’s plans to add to his squad ahead of the 2nd half of the campaign.

And it should not come as a massive surprise to hear that one position in particular has been highlighted as being in serious need of reinforcement.

The area in question? Centre-forward.

The goalscoring options at the disposal of Ten Hag, of course, were reduced in considerable fashion last month. This came upon the mutual decision being made to terminate the contract of Cristiano Ronaldo.

United, in turn, have been left with only Anthony Martial, and to a lesser extent Marcus Rashford, as senior figures capable of leading the line on a regular basis.

It therefore did not come as a massive surprise when, this evening, Erik ten Hag confirmed that securing fresh blood up top has emerged as something of a priority for those in a position of power at Old Trafford ahead of the January transfer window swinging open in three weeks’ time:

Turning attentions towards specific rumoured targets, namely World Cup stars Cody Gakpo and Goncalo Ramos, Ten Hag added:

“I cannot give comment on specific players, I will never do. Each player is under contract and I respect that but we make sure we are working in the background to get the right players in.”
