Erik ten Hag ‘axed’ Cristiano Ronaldo in front of whole Manchester United squad

Manchester United boss Erik ten hag is said to have brutally axed Cristiano Ronaldo in front of the whole squad during a two-hour summit meeting.

Ronaldo has made it obvious that he is looking to leave Manchester United this summer, with the main reason behind an exit his desire to protect his Champions League goal-scoring record.

However, due to his age, wages and his inability to fit into many modern systems, Ronaldo is having a hard team finding a new club.

This has seen Ronaldo return to Manchester United were he now looks to be United’s third-choice centre-forward option behind Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, the latter of which started up top vs Liverpool and scored.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, came off the bench late on and even in that short time, it was clear that he really does not work well in Ten Hag’s United system.

Now, an insight into the meeting that led to Ronaldo being dropped for Liverpool has been provided.

As per the Sun, Erik ten Hag called the Man United players together last Thursday and urged them to air any grievances without the threat of repercussions.

During the clear-the-air session Ten Hag told Ronaldo and captain Harry Maguire they would not be starting against Liverpool on Monday. Ronaldo did not speak but a number of players had their say, while the manager laid down the law to his under-performers.
