England squad latest: Ollie Watkins & Crystal Palace defender among fresh quartet called up/Chelsea star pulls out

A fresh round of alterations to the latest England national team squad has been confirmed on Monday evening.

This comes on the back of no less than four of those to have been handed call-ups as part of Gareth Southgate's original squad list opting to pull out.

The players in question? Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, Chelsea counterpart Reece James, Arsenal shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale and AS Roma hitman Tammy Abraham.

Southgate, in turn, has called upon an alternative quartet of Three Lions stars.

Stepping into the England setup over the coming week are set to be all of Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, and, for the first time, both Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters and Crystal Palace star Tyrick Mitchell.

Ivory Coast test

The latest changes to the nation's personnel setup of course come ahead of a pair of England fixtures set to play out over the course of the next eight days.

As Southgate and co. step up their preparations for the Qatar World Cup later this year, first up on Saturday night comes a friendly showdown with Switzerland at Wembley.

Then, three days later, history will be made, when the Three Lions play host to African outfit Côte d'Ivoire (The Ivory Coast), for the very first time.
