Followers of the English national team have taken to social media in their numbers on Friday night, to send a message to Gareth Southgate regarding the talents of Ivan Toney.
Hitman Toney, of course, has seen his name take its place centre stage in the headlines late this evening.
This comes with the 26-year-old having proven the star of the show, in guiding Brentford to an impressive 2-0 downing of Brighton & Hove Albion.
Toney was first on target just shy of the half-hour mark, in rounding out a fine Bees team move with a gorgeous finish:
Ivan Toney, STOP THAT! 🤤

And the striker was back at it again on the other side of the interval, slotting home from the penalty spot to make it 20 spot-kicks converted from 20 attempts in Brentford colours:

Supporters of Toney at club level, though, are not the only ones to have had their attentions widely piqued late on Friday.
This comes amid mounting calls for Toney to be afforded what is widely viewed as a deserved call-up for the Qatar World Cup:
Easy decision for Southgate to take Toney to the World Cup.

Pure and simply Gareth Southgate would be wrong to overlook Ivan Toney in his World Cup squad. Should have been given some minutes in the last two England games #BBCFootball

Toney has to be a sure thing for the World Cup. He’s got it all! #BREBRI

Toney has to go to Qatar for penalties alone (him being a very good player is a welcome bonus)

Southgate is a prat if he doesn’t take Toney to the World Cup. Definitely going to be a penalty shootout & he’s a specialist

Toney needs to be the back up for Kane in the World Cup

Shouldn’t even be a discussion about Toney going to the World Cup. Southgate has had over a year to see if he can step up to international level and in that year given him ZERO minutes. Horrendous
