A staggering statistic, highlighting the woes of Manchester United star Donny van de Beek during the club’s meeting with Aston Villa, has come to the fore online.
The Red Devils, of course, are currently locked in action.
Just days on from being put to the sword by Unai Emery’s troops in the Premier League, Erik ten Hag and co. locked horns with Aston Villa once more, on this occasion in the EFL Cup.
As things stand at Old Trafford, however, the evening’s hosts, once more, are struggling in their efforts to get the better of a rejuvenated Villans outfit.
Owing to goals on the part of all of Ollie Watkins, Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot (OG) and Marcus Rashford – amid what has proven a chaotic 2nd-half to date – the two sides are deadlocked heading into the game’s closing stages.

One individual, however, who struggled to make an impact on not only the scoresheet, but proceedings as a whole across his time on the pitch on Thursday, comes in the form of Donny van de Beek.
It didn’t take long, though, for the 25-year-old to come in for widespread criticism.
Accused of failing to influence the action in any way, shape or form, many of a Manchester United persuasion have gone as far as to call for van de Beek to never line out for the club again.
And the statistic showcased below does a good job in showcasing exactly why.
As per statisticians WhoScored, goalkeeper Martin Dubravka completed more passes than teammate van de Beek during the first-half at Old Trafford this evening:
