Cristian Romero joined Tottenham from Serie A outfit Atalanta over the summer of 2021.
Spurs made a number of signings in that window, but it is fair to say that Romero is one of the few that actually worked out.
The Argentine is excelling in Antonio Conte’s backline and is proving himself to be one of the best central defenders in the Premier League right now.
Now, after nearly one full season in England, Romero has revealed which player has really surprised him at Tottenham.
And, despite him only being at the club since January, Romero stated that it is Dejan Kulusevski, currently on loan from Juventus, that he has been surprised by: “The person who’s really surprised me is Kulusevski because I think he’s really added something either we didn’t have or didn’t see so often.
“He’s a really bright + intelligent player who’s become a vital cog in our set-up.”

Kulusevski’s Tottenham stint
It is easy to see why Romero may have been surprised by Kulusevski.
The Swede had a rough first half of the 2021/22 campaign with Juventus, netting just once and providing three assists in 20 Serie A outings.
For Spurs, however, Kulusevski has scored three and assisted six in just 11 Premier League matches.
It’s got even worse for Leeds… 😩
