Chilwell was injured vs Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday and there are doubts he can recover in time for the World Cup.
Speaking on October 4, Graham Potter said: “He’s going for a scan later this afternoon so we’ll find out how he is then and there will be an update tomorrow. He feels ok but aware of the injury. We need to let the swelling settle down, hence the delay of the scan. We’ll know after that.”
N’Golo Kante continues to rehabilitate after undergoing thigh surgery earlier this autumn, and the Frenchman is not expected to return to competitive action until February at the earliest.
Wesley Fofana remains on the sidelines with the serious knee injury he sustained against AC Milan, and the defender is expected to remain out until after the World Cup.
Kepa picked up a foot injury in the defeat to Brighton and was not involved against Dinamo Zagreb. The Spaniard has been Potter’s first-choice goalkeeper in recent weeks, but he will miss out vs Arsenal and against next week: “Kepa, no. I don’t think he will play before the World Cup,” Potter stated on October 4.
Reece James is still recovering from the knee injury he picked up against AC Milan at San Siro last month and will be out until after the WC.
Kovacic was unavailable for the meeting with Dinamo Zagreb due to a tight calf muscle but is in contention to feature vs Arsenal.
