Chelsea travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool in what threatened to be a title clash at the beginning of the season, but now represents more of a midtable scrap as both sides look to salvage something from a tragic first half of the season.

The Blues have won their last two consecutive games to move level with their opponents, with Graham Potter’s side currently sitting in 10th place in the Premier League. But, with the addition of Mykhaylo Mudryk and the impending return of several stars from injury, there is hope that the second half of the campaign will be significantly better, and a win at Anfield would certainly provide a strong statement.

We took a look at who Potter could opt for this weekend, and the latest team news on the side.

Predicted XI

Team News

Potter has been hamstrung with injuries since his arrival in west London, with several key players spending much of his tenure to date on the sidelines. However, that run seems to be showing small signs of coming to an end, with Reece James and Ben Chilwell both spotted back in full training on Wednesday, while N’Golo Kante has returned to individual training.

This game, however, is likely to come too soon for the trio, leaving Potter with largely the same squad that managed a narrow win over Crystal Palace. Joao Felix will serve the second of his three-game ban, while Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulisic, Denis Zakaria, Wesley Fofana and Edouard Mendy all remain sidelined.

All eyes from a Blues perspective, however, will be trained on new signing Mudryk, who will be eligible to feature for the Blues after making his 100m euro move last weekend. With such an injury crisis, Potter may be tempted to throw him on from the start despite his last competitive game coming in November.
