The powers that be at Premier League giants Chelsea have opened negotiations with a leading candidate to take up the managerial reins at the club ahead of next season, according to reports.
The subject of the situation on the bench at Stamford Bridge, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the media headlines for several weeks now.
This comes after the Chelsea board opted to dismiss a 2nd manager of the season – Graham Potter following Thomas Tuchel out the door on the back of a dismal stretch of form.
Frank Lampard, in turn, has since been appointed on an interim basis for the remainder of the term.

Come the summer, though, the efforts of Todd Boehly and co. to find a long-term solution to Chelsea’s managerial woes will begin once more.
And, as alluded to above, on Thursday, an insight into the endeavours of the Blues to put the structure of a potential deal in place ahead of time has been forthcoming online.
‘Chelsea have held initial talks with Mauricio Pochettino over the manager cosition at Stamford Bridge.’
Though Julian Nagelsmann remains the frontrunner to take over in west London ahead of next season, ex-Tottenham boss Pochettino is viewed as a viable alternative.
Further talks between the two parties are therefore expected to take place over the weeks ahead, with Luis Enrique, after a round of initial discussions, no longer amongst the candidates for the Blues’ bench.
