Chelsea dealt major boost as trio spotted in training ahead of Liverpool clash

The Blues could be welcoming a new trio into their ranks this weekend

Chelsea and Graham Potter have been dealt a major boost as their new star Mykhaylo Mudryk was joined in training by recovering duo Reece James and Ben Chilwell ahead of the Blues’ clash with Liverpool.

Potter has been hamstrung with injuries since his arrival in west London, with several key players spending much of his tenure to date on the sidelines. It has, perhaps unsurprisingly, coincided with an awful run of form, which has left the Blues marooned in 10th place, with their narrow win over Crystal Palace their first in five games in all competitions.

As per the London Evening Standard, however, they will soon be boosted with the return of both English fullbacks, with James returning from a second consecutive knee injury and Chilwell suffering a hamstring injury before the World Cup.

However, plenty still remain sidelined, with all of Christian Pulisic, Edouard Mendy, Raheem Sterling, Wesley Fofana and N’Golo Kante still some weeks away from featuring, while Armando Broja has been ruled out for the season with a knee injury.

It remains to be seen whether either James or Chilwell will be risked for the trip to Anfield, which could see them drop into the bottom half of the table with a defeat should results go against them.

Also catching the eye in training was Mudryk, who joined the club over the weekend and who the report claims could be “in contention to make his debut against Liverpool this weekend, though has not played a competitive game since November”.
