Championship round-up gameweek 14: Title race heats up, Boro in danger & more

The 14th gameweek of the 2022/23 Championship season drew to a close on Sunday afternoon with Hull and Huddersfield going head-to-head.

The gameweek began on Friday evening as promotion hopefuls QPR and Reading faced off.

QPR came away with a win on the day to move them into third place and level on points with the top two.

Reading remain 5th, two points adrift of top spot.

There were then 10 Championship games played out on Saturday. Both of the top two were in action, and both fell to defeat.

Sheffield United shipped three to Stoke and Norwich shipped three to the usually goal-shy Preston side.

Elsewhere, Burnley picked up a 1-0 win over Coventry to move into 4th and just two points off top spot.

At the other end of the table, meanwhile, Huddersfield were the only one of the bottom five to pick up a win.

Middlesbrough edged out Birmingham in midweek to snatch a win in their first game post-Chris Wilder.

However, they were back to losing ways at the weekend when they lost 2-0 to Millwall.

Boro are yet to appoint a permanent replacement for Wilder but seemingly need to do so sooner rather than later if they wish to avoid a relegation scrap.
