Brighton’s Robert Sanchez in early departure from Spain squad

Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has been forced into a premature departure from the Spain national team squad, it has been confirmed.

News of Sanchez’s exit was made official a short time ago.

In a post across the nation’s social media platforms, the Spanish Football Federation announced that their backup shot-stopper has been replaced in Luis Enrique’s squad by youngster Arnau Tenas.

Unspecified ‘personal reasons’ are cited as being behind Sanchez’s decision:

Seagulls concern?

The lack of details provided when it comes to Sanchez’s latest endeavours on the international stage being cut short means that, as things stand, it remains unclear whether or not the 24-year-old could be in line to sit out at club level over the weeks ahead, too.

Sanchez has continued to act as Brighton’s undisputed no.1 to this point in the campaign, starting in all but one of the club’s 29 Premier League outings en route to a spot in 13th in the English top-flight table.

Next up for Brighton a week from today comes a meeting with bottom-of-the-table Norwich City at the Amex, an outing from which Graham Potter’s men will no doubt be desperate to emerge with all three points.

This comes with the Seagulls currently in the midst of an alarming dip in form, to the tune of six straight defeats across all competitions.
