Brentford take to social media to troll Chelsea after Stamford Bridge rout

Brentford have taken to social media, to poke fun at capital rivals Chelsea on the back of the meeting between the two clubs on Saturday afternoon.

The headline result of the Premier League gameweek to date was of course forthcoming at Stamford Bridge a short time ago.

This came as Champions League holders Chelsea, despite going in front early in the 2nd-half courtesy of an Antonio Rudiger wondergoal, were eventually put to the sword in damning fashion by Thomas Frank's Brentford.

A late onslaught saw the Bees emerge on the right side of a head-turning 4-1 result, owing to strikes on the part of all of Vitaly Janelt (2), Christian Eriksen and Yoane Wissa.

'Are we World Champions?'

Brentford, on the back of a day to remember for all associated with the club, have, in turn, climbed a full 11 points clear of the Premier League's relegation zone, in the process all but securing their place in the top-flight for another season.

It should therefore come as little surprise to hear that, on the back of the full-time whistle in west London this evening, those in charge of the Bees' social media platforms were keen to have some fun at the expense of their capital rivals.

Taking to the club's official Twitter account, Brentford questioned whether they, not Chelsea, 'are world champions now?':

This of course comes in reference to Thomas Tuchel's Blues securing for themselves the title of world football's standout club earlier this year, courtesy of a hard-fought triumph at the Club World Cup.
