Benfica manager tells Chelsea what they must do to sign Enzo Fernández

Benfica manager, Roger Schmidt, has sent a warning to Chelsea over their pursuit of Enzo Fernández...

Chelsea have been in talks with SL Benfica over the last week regarding a deal to sign Enzo Fernández.

The Blues are looking to bolster their midfield options and believe the Argentine would be the perfect fit.

However, negotiations have reached an impasse, and today, Benfica manager Roger Schmidt has informed Chelsea what they must do if they want to sign the 21-year-old...

Schmidt: “I cannot accept what they are doing...”

Schmidt has sent a seething message to Chelsea about their behavior during talks over a deal for Enzo Fernández.

The Benfica boss has explained that the Blues have disrespected Benfica.

The German coach claims that the west Londoners have tried turning the player’s head, claiming they can pay the clause and then trying to negotiate.

Schmidt has told Todd Boehly’s club that they must pay the midfielder’s £106 million release clause if they want to land him.

He said: “There’s a club that wants our and they know we don’t want to sell him.

“They tried to get the player on their side and they know they can only get this player when they pay the clause.

“It is a very clear situation, what the club is doing, who wants to buy Enzo, it is disrespectful against all of us, against Benfica.

“I cannot accept what they are doing, so to make the player crazy then to pretend they can pay the clause and then later they want to negotiate.

“I think it is not what I understand to be a good relationship between clubs who want to discuss about a player.”
