3 wins in a week for Spurs
It was a great week for Tottenham. And, a great week for Ben Davies.
Spurs concluded an impressive seven days on Saturday with a 4-0 win over Huddersfield.
After a 3-2 victory over West Ham, Spurs again claimed three goals in midweek, against APOEL in Cyprus.
On Saturday, Spurs won 4-0 at Huddersfield, with Harry Kane scoring twice.
No one will be surprised to hear that Harry Kane has been heavily feted for his goal scoring exploits once again.
Everyone goes nuts for Ben Davies
There were a few star performers for Spurs on Saturday. Harry Kane was the obvious one.
Kieran Trippier also performed well, providing two of the assists.
One player who undoubtedly shined yet again was Ben Davies.
The Welsh defender scored on 16 minutes and also provided the assist for Moussa Sissoko’s first ever goal for Spurs in the final seconds of the match.
Will Danny Rose return to the Spurs starting line-up?
Ben Davies has been first choice left back at Tottenham ever since Danny Rose got seriously injured at Sunderland in January.
Davies had a poor game at Liverpool against Sadio Mane last season, but in Rose’s absence played well during 2016/2017.
Indeed, before comparing the two it is worth pointing out that when both Rose and Davies are out, Spurs really struggle.
Against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final, Heung Min Son played left wing back and Spurs lost.
Similarly, at Wembley against Swansea, Son also played in that position and Tottenham drew. Despite the South Korean performing well on the day.
Has Danny Rose talked himself out of the Spurs starting line-up?
With Ben Davies performing so well, Tottenham fans are now debating whether Danny Rose is first choice again once fit.
On current form, Rose will struggle.
And, with The Sun interview not forgotten from the summer, Mauricio Pochettino was never going to bring Rose back immediately anyway.
It will be fascinating to see how quickly Danny Rose is introduced back into the Spurs first team on return from injury.
This is expected to be in the coming weeks. Although Spurs fans have heard that about Rose for some time.
Clear proof that Spurs left back Ben Davies is better than Danny Rose
In the meantime, a Tottenham fan has done the number drilling and has provided clear proof that Spurs are a better team with Ben Davies than Danny Rose.
Over the past three seasons, when Davies starts Spurs win 65.57% percent of the time.
This drops significantly to 44.0% with Rose.
And, the points difference is also large. Davies averages 2.08 per start. Rose is at 1.72.
Tottenham also enjoy a better goal difference when Davies starts as well.
