Barcelona prodigy Gavi has, late on Sunday, revealed the identities of his two midfield role models.
Gavi, of course, has taken his place centre stage in the Spanish media headlines on Sunday evening.
This comes after the teenage talent played a starring role in Barcelona clinching their first piece of silverware under the watch of Xavi Hernandez, courtesy of a dominant 3-1 downing of Clasico rivals Real Madrid.
Gavi, for his part, played a direct hand in all three of the Blaugrana’s goals in Riyadh, opening the scoring in style, before laying on further strikes for both Robert Lewandowski and midfield partner in crime Pedri.
In turn, it came as little surprise when the awaiting media took advantage of the opportunity to fire a whole host of questions in the direction of Barca’s La Masia gem post-match.
And one such question which has since piqued widespread attentions saw Gavi drawn on his midfield idols.
The Spanish international, at just 18 years of age, is already widely viewed as a potentially world-class midfield performer in the making.
And his two role models in the position, past and present, could certainly lay a claim to precisely that themselves.
This comes with Gavi having pointed towards Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta, and Paris Saint-Germain standout Marco Verratti, as two players to have had a major influence on his fledgling career:
