Barcelona ramp up Liverpool Mo Salah talks as Erling Haaland interest ends

Barcelona are reportedly ready to switch their attentions to Liverpool's Mo Salah following their setback in pursuit of Erling Haaland ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Blaugrana were thought to be in the race for Haaland's signature, having met with his agent several times in th epast 12 months, but recent comments made by Barcelona president Joan Laporta have seemingly poured cold water on that idea.

It comes just days after reports emerged that Manchester City have agreed a deal in principle to take the Norwegian marksman to the Etihad stadium in the summer, in a package deal worth around £100 million.

Salah to the Camp Nou?

As a result of this setback, in a remarkable turn of events Spanish outlet AS are claiming that Barca have turned their attentions to Liverpool legend Mo Salah, with first contact already having been made.

'Barcelona have already received the first positive 'inputs' from the player's entourage, who would welcome a change of scenery (he has been at Liverpool for five seasons), and even more so joining the Xavi Hernández project as the new franchise player', the outlet reports.

Salah, of course, is out of contract next summer, and has as of yet not been able to agree fresh terms with Liverpool that would see him stay at Anfield beyond 2023.

Should Barcelona come calling and offer a sizeable fee for Liverpool's Egyptian king this summer, it may be enough to sway all parties and take the forward to the Camp Nou.

On the other hand, it could also just be a negotiation tactic from Salah's camp.
