Barcelona handed fitness boost ahead of Mallorca

The Catalans’ personnel options look set for imminent reinforcement

Spanish giants Barcelona have on Thursday been afforded a timely boost on the personnel front.

Xavi Hernandez’s troops, of course, are primed to return to action this weekend, upon the close of the international break.

Aware that a three-point haul would guide them clear of Clasico rivals Real Madrid to the summit of the La Liga table, the Blaugrana will make the trip to RCD Mallorca, eyeing a 6th successive league triumph.

And, less than 48 hours out from the action kicking into gear at the Iberostar Stadium, Barca, as alluded to above, have been handed a boost.

The international break, all told, proved something of a nightmare for those in a position of power in Catalunya’s capital.

This came as a whole host of members of Xavi’s squad fell victim to fitness concerns, with Ronald Araujo, Memphis Depay and Jules Kounde amongst those now in line for respective spells on the sidelines.

In turn, it will no doubt come as music to the ears of all associated with the Blaugrana to hear of a versatile member of the club’s first-team setup returning to fitness.

The player in question? Sergi Roberto.

As per Javi Miguel of Diario AS, Spanish international Roberto has been given the green light to resume full training, therefore in line to take his play in Barca’s matchday squad on Saturday.

Not only that, but it has even been suggested elsewhere in the Spanish media that the 30-year-old could be afforded a starting berth for the clash.
