Spanish source Diario Gol report that Barcelona have been left furious with Real Madrid who have held talks with defender Samuel Umtiti who they are desperate to keep hold of this summer.
The Catalan Giants face a real battle to keep hold of the Frenchman with both Real Madrid and Manchester United expressing an interest in signing the defender this summer.
Barcelona are currently in negotiations with the 24-year-old over signing a new contract at the club, however, Los Blancos plan to pounce by paying Umtiti’s £53m buy-out clause in the summer.
Buy out clause
Umtiti’s buy-out clause is understood to stand at £53m which Los Blancos are willing to activate this summer to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu.
To avoid this situation from occurring, Barcelona are offering the player a new contract, with two of the world’s biggest clubs circulating.
However, it is reported that Madrid lead the race to add Umtiti to their ranks having met with the defender to discuss a potential transfer.
This has infuriated Barcelona president Josep María Bartomeu and also set United a major setback with Umtiti high on their list of transfer targets.
This afternoon Barcelona host Valencia, with the French international starting in defence for the La Liga leaders.
