Barcelona fans single unsung hero out for widespread praise after Celta Vigo

Supporter of Spanish giants Barcelona have flooded to social media on Sunday evening, to sing the praises of an oft-underappreciated member of the club’s first-team squad.

Xavi Hernandez’s troops, of course, were back in action a short time ago.

Ahead of next weekend’s fast-approaching Clasico, the Blaugrana welcomed Celta Vigo to the Camp Nou, aware that a victory would guide them back to the La Liga summit.

And, when all was said and done, make it seven wins from eight in Spain’s top-flight this season is precisely what Barca went on to do.

A solitary goal, netted by the superb Pedri, proved enough to condemn Celta to defeat:

Whilst the result proved exactly what was required for Xavi and co. on Sunday night, though, in truth, Barcelona looked some way short of their best throughout the 90 minutes in Catalunya.

The evening’s visitors carved out a number of presentable opportunities, only to see their efforts to level things up thwarted at the last.

And this came in no small part owing to the brilliance on show between the posts.

So recently singled out by the masses as being in need of replacing, Marc-Andre ter Stegen provided yet another reminder of his elite shot-stopping abilities against Celta.

In turn, amid what has proven something of a ‘redemption season’ for the German to date, the Blaugrana faithful have taken to social media in their droves, to lavish praise on the club’s no.1.
