Barcelona boost: Jules Koundé injury update ahead of El Clásico

Barcelona are set be given a huge injury boost with Jules Koundé expected back for El Clásico.

FC Barcelona experienced yet another bad night in the Champions League with their hopes of reaching the knockouts now hanging by a thread.

Xavi’s team require a miracle in order to advance from their group with Inter Milan just a win away from dumping them out of the competition.

So now the focus will be back on winning La Liga and on Sunday the title race could take a huge twist in El Clásico.

Ahead of the clash, Barça have finally received some encouraging news in regard to the return of Jules Koundé.

Koundé expected back for El Clásico

Diario AS report that Koundé is aiming to start in Sunday’s El Clásico.

At the start of the week, the club had doubts as to whether the Frenchman would be ready for the match.

Barça were planning to be cautious over his return with the defender expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks.

This weekend would mark three weeks since Koundé suffered the hamstring injury with France.

However, following the team’s 3-3 draw with Inter, Xavi and Koundé are now both keen for him to return as soon as possible.

At present, the player is almost guaranteed to be in the squad and the possibility of him starting is also high.
