Aymeric Laporte reveals damage received in Manchester City’s draw at Southampton
Ralph Hasenhüttl’s Southampton have become the bogey team of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City after the Saints secured a point in a spirited display at St. Mary’s against the Premier League front runners.
It was the second time this season that Southampton held firm against the current league holders as City’s 12-match winning run came to an abrupt halt on the south coast, but that was not the only mark left on the Citizens in the wake of the club stumbling, as Spanish international center-back Aymeric Laporte revealed the damage left by Saints midfielder Adam Armstrong.

Laporte revealed the deep gash he suffered after the Scottish international left his boot high on the Spaniard during the second-half, only for Armstrong to receive just a yellow card after the incident went to VAR for a second look. On the visual evidence above, that decision likely was a poor one.
Manchester City close in on long-term addition
Despite the frustrating result on their travels, Manchester City fans can be pleased to know that the club is rapidly closing on adding Argentine starlet Julián Álvarez to the ranks at the Etihad Stadium.
Álvarez is one of the brightest talents to emerge from South America in the last few seasons after smashing in the goals for Argentine giants River Plate to the tune of 18-strikes in just 21-appearances in the Liga Profesional.
His acquisition, though not expected to come fully into play until next season after being loaned for the remainder of 2021-22 to guarantee minutes, would go a long way in securing the club a successor for City legend Sergio Agüero.

Moreover, the likes of Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, and Bernardo Silva, who have all at one point or another been deployed in a false nine role, would be able to return to their primary positions once Álvarez comes on board and, hopefully, hits the ground running.
