Aston Villa fans send collective Steven Gerrard message to club owners after Arsenal defeat

Patience amongst the Villans faithful appears to have worn out once and for all

Supporters of Premier League outfit Aston Villa have flooded to social media on Wednesday evening, to make their feelings with manager Steven Gerrard clear.

The Claret and Blue, of course, were back in action a short time ago.

On the back of an altogether concerning opening to the campaign, culminating in three defeats from four, Gerrard’s troops made the trip to the Emirates, hopeful of turning things around up against table-topping Arsenal.

When all was said and done, though, once more, Villa were put to the sword.

A dominant display on the part of hosts Arsenal ultimately gave rise to a 2-1 final scoreline in north London, as Gabriel Martinelli’s strike a little over ten minutes from time ensured that Douglas Luiz’s prior equaliser proved to be little more than a consolation.

On the back of the full time whistle bringing proceedings to a close at the Emirates, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of concerns rapidly spreading across the Aston Villa fanbase.

Their latest defeat means that the Villans remain 2nd from bottom in the Premier League table, with just three points collected from a possible 15.

And one man in particular, evidently, is viewed as central as to why.

The individual in question? Steven Gerrard.

Taking to social media in their absolute droves on Wednesday night, Villa’s supporters have taken aim at the club’s boss, pleading with those in a position of power at the club to dismiss the Englishman before it’s too late.

Some of the highlights from across Twitter can be seen below:
