'As far as I know' Ralf Rangnick issues update on Cristiano Ronaldo's future

Ralf Rangnick has suggested that he expects Cristiano Ronaldo to remain at Manchester United next season, despite the disappointing campaign this season.

Signed to much fanfare in the dying hours of the transfer window, it was expected that CR7's return would be the final boost as United looked to go one better than last season and lift the Premier League trophy, with his goals firing them to it.

But while Ronaldo has banged in the goals, 24 to be precise, the Red Devils have hit new lows as they currently fight for Europa League football next season, sitting 6th in the English top flight.

And this has led to speculation about the future of Ronaldo, the man who has never known anything but Champions League football. However, according to Rangnick, he will be at Old Trafford come next season.

'Why should he say goodbye? He has another year of contract, as far as I know Cristiano will be here next season', the interim boss told the press.

Ronaldo drops hint that he is staying

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has seemingly dropped a hint of his own that he may not be leaving Old Trafford this summer. Following their 3-0 win, the Portugal star pointed to the Sky Sports camera and said down the lens that 'I'm not finished', though whether it referred to his time at Manchester United or his time as a world-class striker is unclear.

With Erik ten Hag taking over this summer, having a World Class striker at his disposal may not be an awful thing.
