The Arsenal right-back, who can also play centre-back, has spent the last few weeks in Qatar, competing at the 2022 World Cup with Japan.
Japan made it out of their group, sending Germany home in the process.
They then faced Croatia in the last-16 and had a decent chance of making it to the quarter-finals.
However, Japan were taken to extra time by the European outfit before then losing on penalties.
On the loss to Croatia, Tomiyasu had this to say:
“Of course, we are so disappointed with the result,” he said. “My performance was a disaster today so I am sorry for the team”.
“I can’t be proud,” he continued. “I am not satisfied about what happened. This is football and we need to be much, much better to win against a stronger team.”
Elsewhere, the stopper has revealed that former Liverpool and FC Barcelona man Javier Mascherano is his favourite defender of all time.
