Arsenal’s Gabriel shares update after injury scare

Gabriel has spoken out after his first outing for Brazil earlier this week.

Gabriel impressed on his first appearance for Brazil in their 5-1 World Cup qualifying win over Bolivia.

But the 25-year-old was substituted after 85 minutes and was then seen on the Brazil bench with an ice pack on his thigh.

Losing Gabriel would be detrimental to Arsenal’s 2023/24 campaign as he is their only left-footed centre-back and they have already lost Jurrien Timber for what is expected to be the rest of the season.

However, in what appears to be good news for Arsenal, the centre-back did not mention his injury when he took to social media after his first match for his country.

After his Brazil debut, Gabriel posted on Instagram: “Only God knows how much I’ve waited for this moment! So happy for the debut and the big win. Thank you Belem do Para for the incredible energy. Come on Brazil.”

Brazil are next in action in the early hours of Wednesday morning when they take on Peru in a World Cup qualifier and all eyes will be on the team sheet to see if Gabriel is included in the squad or not.
