Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli reveals the moment he knew he had made it

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has recently revealed the moment he knew he had made it.

Martinelli has been on Arsenal’s books since the summer of 2019 and made an almost instant impact in north London.

However, when speaking recently, the Brazilian revealed that it was when he was standing across from Cristiano Ronaldo for Arsenal vs Manchester United earlier in this season that he knew he had made it:

“When I saw Ronaldo in the game against United I couldn’t really believe he was there,” the Brazilian teenager stated.

“I saw him and I was like, ‘wow this is Ronaldo.’ I’m a bit shy, so I didn’t say anything, just shook hands with him. But to play against my idols shows that I’ve got there.”

Manchester United would get the better of Arsenal on that occasion, coming away with a 3-2 win.

However, the two side’s form has dramatically differed since that game, with Arsenal knocking Manchester United off 4th spot this past weekend.

The Gunners also have three games in hand on United and look certain to finish above them barring a late collapse.

As for Martinelli, he has firmly cemented his spot in Arsenal’s XI following the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with his latest game seeing him score a stunning strike as Arsenal downed Watford.
