Arsenal urged to sign Brentford star by former Premier League striker

Gabriel Agbonlahor has urged Arsenal to make a move for Brentford star, Ivan Toney.

This comes with the Gunners likely needing at least two new strikers in the summer once the deals of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah expire.

A number of names have been linked throughout the season, with Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City the latest touted for an Emirates switch.

Now though, Agbonlahor is of the opinion that Arsenal should go and get Ivan Toney.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: "I’d get rid of Lacazette. If I was Arsenal I’d then bring in two top strikers in the summer, 100 per cent. They should look at someone like Toney.

"He’s proven he’s Premier League quality this season, you won’t have to pay ridiculous wages because he’s not going to be on crazy wages at the moment. It’s not going to be a crazy transfer fee.

"He’ll guarantee you hold up play, work rate, scoring goals. It’s a signing that a lot of teams in the Premier League will look at."

Ivan Toney’s Brentford stint

Toney impressed a great deal in both League One and the Championship and has largely adapted to the Premier League with ease as well.

In 29 outings to date, Toney has scored 12 goals and provided four assists for the Bees – a solid record considering this is Brentford’s first-ever season in the Premier League.

However, Toney has also made headlines for his repeated bashing of Brentford FC. Given Mikel Arteta has spent the last several years trying to create a more positive dressing room atmosphere, bringing in someone like Toney could be a mistake as any bashing of Arsenal is sure to get much more attention than his comments on Brentford did.
