Arsenal teammates join pile-on as Alexandre Lacazette takes aim at Ivan Toney post-Brentford

A number of Arsenal stars have made use of the opportunity to poke fun at Brentford star Ivan Toney on Saturday night, on the back of the club's downing of Thomas Frank's men.

The Gunners, of course, marked their return to action this afternoon, eyeing a much-needed three-point haul amid the club's ongoing pursuit of a Premier League top-4 berth.

And, when all was said and done, secure victory is precisely what Mikel Arteta's troops managed, courtesy of strikes on the part of Hale End pair Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka.

As alluded to above, though, one member of Arsenal's squad who was not quite satisfied with just the club's latest victory was Alexandre Lacazette.

This came with the Gunners' French hitman keen to rub salt in the wounds of Brentford counterpart Ivan Toney.

On the back of the Bees' shock downing of Mikel Arteta and co. on the opening day of the Premier League campaign, star striker Toney took to his social media platforms, to to aim a less-than-subtle dig at Arsenal:

And Lacazette, in turn, felt it only right to return the favour this evening, in making use of the exact same social media post as Toney:

Teammates Gabriel Magalhaes and Emile Smith Rowe, meanwhile, evidently saw the funny side of the situation, too:

Gunners climbing

Turning attentions back towards the Premier League table, Arsenal now sit in 6th place, with 42 points to their name.

West Ham in 5th, meanwhile, have accrued the same tally, but, crucially, have played out a full three games more than their capital rivals.

And Manchester United, currently in possession of the English top-flight's final Champions League berth, sit a point clear of both, albeit with Ralf Rangnick's men having too taken to the pitch on two occasions more than their Arsenal counterparts.
