Arsenal fans were alarmed to hear Aaron Ramsey was injured in the warm-up ahead of their game against Chelsea.
Not only were the fans who are big admirers of the player worried, given he’s a key player for their system – under any manager – but it seems that the ones who are concerned about the hold ups in his new contract and just why that is.
Some have claimed he’s holding the club to ransom, and wants more money than they’re willing to pay – but others think he’s going to Chelsea.
The Blues have been heavily linked with Ramsey and are interested in his contract issues – and many people on social media made the joke about how the player is of course sitting out the game against his ‘new team.’
While that’s far from the case at the minute, it seems understandable that the Gunners do not want to risk a player who they see as key, in what is only a pre-season game – and with the season starting in under a week and a half, keeping him safe on the sidelines is certainly the right option – not that many on Twitter saw it like that…
Ah, seems Ramsey injured in the warmup. Good to see Smith Rowe again but of course would not have hoped any injuries at this point. #AFCvCFC

If Ramsey is trying to hold arsenal hostage he needs to bounce. This contract should have been done and dusted.

Ramsey not playing tonight DOES NOT MEAN he’s going anywhere else, ok? Ok!

Hopefully Aaron Ramsey’s injury isn’t too serious, if it is then this is a massive opportunity for Emile Smith-Rowe to potentially sneak his way in to the team next week against Man City. A different option could be Özil as a midfielder with Mkhi/Auba on the flanks.
