Arsenal set to test waters with Marcus Rashford move

Arsenal are plotting a summer swoop for Marcus Rashford at the end of the season, with the English forward thought to be ‘considering his future’ at Manchester United.

That is according to the Mirror, who claim that ‘the Gunners are in the market for a frontline striker and will add the name of Manchester United’s striker to their hit-list.’

It is certainly true that Arsenal are in the market for a striker, but that is not a role that Rashford has fulfilled in recent years, instead operating on the flanks for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and now Ralf Rangnick.

That is not to say that he could not revert back to a striker however, but he may not be the level that the Gunners are looking for based on his recent performances.

Rashford’s stick or twist summer

It is an important summer for Rashford. His career is under threat of stalling completely in the next few months as he has been left out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast in the international break.

Coming back from shoulder surgery earlier in the season, the England forward has struggled for game time this season, and has done little in the time afforded to him to suggest he warrants additional time at Old Trafford.

He was considered last summer, but Mbappe’s decision to stay put pay to any move. However, they could reignite their interest, getting Rashford for a cut-price in the process this summer.
