Arsenal reach agreement in principle for £52m deal

Arsenal are close to agreeing a £52m deal with a top star.

England forward Bukayo Saka is on the verge of agreeing a huge deal with the Premier League leaders.

Saka, 21, was one of Arsenal’s best players across the 2021/22 campaign and, whilst the Gunners missed out on the Champions League they did secure a fifth-placed Premier League finish – a huge improvement on their 8th-placed finishes in the previous two campaigns.

Saka, for his part, was instrumental to that, scoring 11 and assisting six in the league whilst also forming a great understanding with Martin Odegaard at the heart of the Gunners’ attack.

In 2022/23, meanwhile, Saka has already provided four assists and one goal in eight Premier League outings.

But, given his age, talent and the fact that he plays for an Arsenal side no longer at the top of the English game, the north Londoners may have a hard time keeping hold of their young prodigy.

Saka is under contract at the Emirates until 2024, with the Gunners understood to be working on a new deal for the winger.

And now, according to Football Insider, Arsenal have reached an agreement with Saka for a deal worth almost £200,000 a week.

Saka will sign a five-year contract, worth a total in the region of £52m over the course of his contract.

There is no mention of a release clause in the deal.
