Arsenal handed top-four boost as Tottenham star ruled out for remainder of season

Tottenham have provided a concerning Oliver Skipp injury update on Tuesday.

Skipp had an excellent start to the 2021/22 campaign and was one of Spurs’ most consistent players at a time they were struggling for form.

However, the 21-year-old was then injured at the end of January in a clash with Chelsea has been sidelined since.

The midfielder was believed to be edging closer to a return, but now, Tottenham have delivered a less than positive update on Skipp:

“We can confirm that Oliver Skipp has undergone surgery in America this morning and will be out for the remainder of the season,” Tottenham said in a statement. “Wishing you all the best with your recovery, Skippy.”

Tottenham vs Leicester City

The news of Skipp’s season being ended comes at a crucial point in Tottenham’s campaign.

Spurs, after an impressive run of results, moved into the top-four in place of a floundering Arsenal.

However, the Lilywhites’ form has since fallen off a cliff, with Antonio Conte’s side not managing a single shot on target in their last two Premier League outings.

As a result, Tottenham will be desperate to pick up a win vs Leicester City this weekend.

Spurs face off with the Foxes at 2 pm on Sunday in a tie they need three points from – especially with clashes against Liverpool and Arsenal on the horizon.

Leicester head into the weekend’s action 10th in the Premier League with just one league win from five to their name.
