Arsenal handed major boost ahead of Manchester United clash

Manchester United have been dealt a fresh blow on the personnel front ahead of their meeting with Arsenal.

The two sides are set to face off in the day’s early kick-off this Saturday.

Ahead of the game, Manchester United have had some serious injury woes that saw all of Fred, Scott McTominay, Luke Shaw, Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani miss out vs Liverpool on Tuesday evening.

During that game, which Man United lost 4-0, the Red Devils also picked up yet another injury issue as Paul Pogba went off after just 10 minutes of action.

Following the game, Ralf Rangnick provided an update on the Frenchman and suggested that Pogba could miss Manchester United’s upcoming clashes with Arsenal and then Chelsea:

“He [Pogba] pulled a calf muscle,” Rangnick said. “I fear he will not be available for Arsenal [on Saturday] or for Chelsea [on April 28].”

This could potentially leave Nemanja Matic as Man United’s only available defensive midfielder for their trip to London.

Arsenal vs Manchester United

Saturday’s game is a must-win for Mikel Arteta’s side. The Gunners are still firmly in the top-four picture, sitting three points adrift of Tottenham in 4th with one game in hand.

And whilst Arsenal have been in dismal form of their own of late and have some injury issues, they will still likely fancy their chances of getting a result against Manchester United this weekend.

Ralf Rangnick’s side have won just one of their last nine matches across all competitions. And even that win only came against Championship-bound Norwich who have the worst attack and second-worst defence in the Premier League.
