Arsenal and Dortmund duel for Marseille’s teenage star

New Marseille star

Arsenal have a new teenage star on their radar. TalkSPORT report that the Gunners have been Marseille sensation Christopher Rocchia for some time now. The 19-year-old full-back has impressed in the opening weeks of the season.

But they can expect to face competition from Borussia Dortmund. With his current contract expiring at the end of the season, Marseille want to tie him down to a longer deal. However, any reluctance on his part might force them to auction him off in January. It’s said that he would prefer a move to London over Dortmund.

Nervy League Cup win

Arsenal are coming off the back of a nervy 1-0 home win over Doncaster in the League Cup. The narrow victory is the latest thing to cause fans to grumble – though not many were there to see it.

With only 44,064 reportedly in attendance, it was the lowest crowd Arsenal have had since their Emirates move.

One good note to come out of last night’s win was Jack Wilshere getting 90 minutes under his belt in an Arsenal shirt. It was the first time that happened since 2014. Gooners were impressed with what they saw too.

Theo Walcott scored the only goal of the game although Olivier Giroud came close with a stunning acrobatic effort. West Brom are up next for the Gunners who are unbeaten in four since they were hockeyed 4-0 at Anfield.

Alexis danger

Arsene Wenger will try not to think about it but it will be hard not to worry about losing Alexis Sanchez to a direct rival. The Chilean attacker’s contract expires at the end of the season and this could see him strike gold.

Instead of paying Arsenal a fee for the player, the buying club will pay Sanchez a part of the fee they would have paid to entice him to sign for them. Man United and Man City might offer a signing-on bonus of £25m.
