Arsenal boss Arteta sets alarm bells ringing with Thomas Partey injury update

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has, late on Friday evening, provided an update on the wellbeing of star midfielder Thomas Partey.

For those not aware, Ghanaian international Partey set pulses racing across the fanbase of Premier League table-toppers Arsenal earlier this evening.

This came upon the former Atletico Madrid standout being pulled from boss Arteta’s XI at the interval of the club’s FA Cup 4th round showdown with Manchester City.

Speaking to the media post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Partey’s fitness was put to his manager.

And Arteta’s ensuing comments have since set alarm bells blaring across the Gunners fanbase.

This comes with the Spanish tactician having confirmed that “he felt something and we didn’t want to take any risks, so he could not continue.

“Obviously tomorrow, the day after he will have to have an MRI scan and see what he has.”

Drawn on the chances of the transfer team at the Emirates sanctioning fresh additions to his squad in the face of Partey’s potential absence, Arteta went on to add:

“We’ve been pretty active. We have some necessities and if something else is available the club is willing to try to do it when it’s reasonable and hopefully it’s a player that can improve our squad.”
