Arsenal are you watching? Gunners target Nunez shows Lacazette & co. how it's done with Benfica hat-trick

After Arsenal's defeat at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion this afternoon highlighted once more the attacking woes of the Gunners at present, a key rumoured target on the part of Mikel Arteta's troops provided yet another prime example of his own elite abilities in and around the box.

The player in question? Darwin Nunez.

Headline-grabbing Nunez returned to action a short time ago, as Benfica welcomed Belenenses to Lisbon for a Primeira Liga clash.

The hosts, for their part, went on to carve out a comfortable 3-1 victory on the night, amid their ongoing efforts to hunt down runaway pair Porto and Sporting CP atop the Portuguese top-flight.

And it was that man Nunez who, almost inevitably, completely stole the show.

After finding the net in his side's Champions League defeat at the hands of Liverpool during the week, on the back of goals in both of his prior appearances domestically and on the continent, too, the Uruguayan was back at it again tonight, en route to a brilliant hat-trick.

All three of Nunez's goals can be seen below, in a finishing display no doubt set to pique attentions on the red half of north London once more:

PL clubs line up

Should Arsenal ultimately go on to make a move for Nunez come the summer, they are expected to be joined in the race for the striker by a host of other Premier League clubs.

This comes with the Uruguayan international having evidently been identified as the kind of player who would excel amidst the rough and tumble nature of the English game.

Alongside the Gunners, all of Manchester United, Liverpool, Brighton and West Ham are understood to be keen on Nunez, with the latter having even seen a big-money proposal for the 22-year-old knocked back during the January transfer window.
