Premier League leaders Arsenal have, on Friday, moved to solidify the future of fan favourite defender William Saliba.
French international Saliba, of course, has enjoyed a stellar campaign to date.
Finally afforded a place back in Mikel Arteta’s squad after a string of loan spells away from north London, the 21-year-old has gone about showcasing precisely why the the powers that be at the Emirates pushed so hard for his signature in the first place.
Saliba has featured from the off in all 15 of Arsenal’s outings en route to the summit of England’s top-flight, establishing himself as one of the first names on the Gunners’ team sheet.

It should therefore come as little surprise, late this evening, to hear of the club’s board moving to tie their talented young stopper down, at least for the time being.
As per a report from the reliable David Ornstein of The Athletic, ‘Arsenal have activated option to extend William Saliba contract until June 2024.’
Negotiations over a new and improved contract, meanwhile, continue between the two parties.
