Arsenal kicked off at the Emirates knowing they needed a win to put some distance between themselves and Manchester City.
As for Manchester United, they needed three points to keep pace with the top-four and potentially even mount a title charge in the second half of the campaign.
When all was said and done at the Emirates, Arsenal came away with the three points.
Arsenal started on the front foot, having two chances inside two minutes. But it was Manchester United who opened the scoring.
Marcus Rashford intercepted a poor ball from Thomas Partey before then meging the midfielder and smashing a long-range effort past Ramsdale.
United’s lead did not last long, though, as Granit Xhaka’s cross fell to the head of Eddie Nketiah was headed past David de Gea.

Arsenal came close to a second early in the second half when Odegaard slipped in Xhaka but Martinez made a great sliding tackle to prevent a likely goal.
The Gunners got their second goal less than a minute after that chance. Saka cut inside and bent a lovely ball past Eriksen and De Gea to make it 2-1.
However, United hit back just minutes later. Arsenal failed to clear the ball from a corner and Martinez headed in the loose ball.
Odegaard came close to putting Arsenal back in front after 65 minutes but his effort went out for a corner.
Nketiah then had a great chance to win in late on when he picked up the ball unmarked in the box but De Gea made a good save.
The striker had a chance to redeem himself 89 minutes in and did exactly that. A Zinchenko cross was deflected to Nketiah by Odegaard who tapped in the winner.

That’s a brilliant Arsenal team goal. Granit Xhaka’s cross was perfect for Eddie Nketiah to score his third Premier League goal of the season. Nketiah has eight in all competitions now meaning he’s Arsenal’s joint-top scorer.🎯 pic.twitter.com/fmrlgIHneE

Weghorst has made a decent start acting as a focal point and link for the #MUFC counter.

Eriksen gave the ball away and then couldn’t get near Saka. Surprised he’s lasted so long. Disaster out of possession against this #AFC midfield. #MUFC https://t.co/4RP3g8bRy6
