Anthony Martial to sign new Manchester United contract on one condition

An insight into the future of Anthony Martial has been provided on Tuesday.

Martial returned to Manchester United this past summer following a very underwhelming loan stint with Sevilla.

Before that, the Frenchman had been very disappointing when tasked with leading the line for United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

As a result, it seemed obvious that Martial would be moved on this summer to make way for a new striker or two.

However, Martial went on to enjoy a solid pre-season matches with Man United and was expected to start 2022/23 as their main striker.

But the Frenchman was then injured and has so far only made two appearances this term, both of which came from the bench.

He provided an assist vs Liverpool and came off vs Manchester City to score twice.

Now, an insight into Martial’s United future has been provided, with Fabrizio Romano claiming he will only pen fresh terms if he gets enough game time:

“Some fans were surprised to see Cristiano Ronaldo staying on the bench for this game, and Martial preferred by Erik ten Hag, but it’s been the case for some time now that the new manager has been keen to give the Frenchman a chance to show what he can do,” Romano explained.

“Ten Hag has always been happy with Martial since some strong performances in July pre-season and he’s still considered an important player for the club.

“Of course, before progressing on a new contract, Martial wants to make sure to have enough game time and this will be the key point.”

Martial’s current deal runs out in 2024 but there is an option for an extra year.
