Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has, on Friday, provided an update on the future of wing-back Ivan Perisic.
For those not aware, the name of Croatian international Perisic has taken its place front and centre in the headlines on the Lilywhite half of north London across much of the summer to date.
This came owing to widespread reports, pointing towards the former Inter Milan standout inching towards a Spurs exit.
Amid claims that Perisic had been deemed surplus to requirements by incoming boss Postecoglou, the 34-year-old was linked with a whole host of clubs from across the continent.
A stretch of stellar form across Tottenham’s pre-season fixtures, however, culminated in further claims that, in fact, Perisic was inching towards staying put.
And, if the latest comments on the part of the aforementioned Postecoglou are anything to go by, then this, it would appear, will indeed be the case.
Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s Premier League opener against Brentford this weekend, Spurs’ boss was drawn on Perisic’s place in his squad for the season ahead.
And the Australian tactician went on to put any and all lingering speculation firmly to bed, in confirming that:
“He does have a future with me and the club.”
